About the President/CEO

Introduction

In the late eighties, Bill Reed managed to accumulate enough debt to exceed his assets. His net financial worth was negative, but yet creditors continued to encourage him to take on more debt. Realizing he was headed for "debtor's hell," Bill decided to get his financial house in order. In the process of recreating his own financial peace of mind, he developed the passion to help others avoid the mistakes he made. Out of that experience, the idea for Reed Consulting, Inc. was born. The mission of Reed Consulting is to help clients improve their financial circumstance and again achieve financial peace of mind.

Professional Experience

Bill has worked over twenty five (25) years in the field of finance/accounting. He was successful at several Fortune 500 companies, with Microsoft Corporation being the last private sector employer. Bill is currently an accounting instructor at a local community college.

Education

Bill Reed holds an undergraduate degree in accounting from Union University, located in Jackson Tennessee, and a master of business administration degree from Western Washington University, located in Bellingham Washington. Bill passed the Certified Public Accountant exam and is a Licensed Public Accountant. Bill is an Accredited Financial Counselor and has earned the designation of Certified Housing Counselor from the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE).

Community Service

Bill is married to Marcella Fleming Reed. Together they have two adult children and a teenage son. Believers in public and community service, Bill and Marcella founded and co-chair the Scholarship Committee for the Yes You Can Scholarship Fund, providing college scholarships to African-American students in Tipton County, Tennessee and King and Snohomish Counties in Washington. They also plan and sponsor annually minority college career conferences, focused on middle and high school students, in Tipton County Tennessee and Snohomish County Washington. Further, Bill and Marcella have established scholarship funds to benefit minority high school students at Western Washington University, Motlow State Community College, Everett Community College and the University of Tennessee at Martin. Bill has served as Commissioner for the Washington State Commission on African-American Affairs, a position appointed by the State Governor. At the request of the University President, he has also served as co-chair of the Western Washington University Multicultural Advisory Board.
